The colder months are now here so you probably want to start saving energy around your home. Since the windows cover the largest gaps in your home’s exterior, it’s a good idea to start with them. Winterizing regular windows is easy, but what do you do with oddly shaped specialty windows?
Insulating Specialty Windows
Regular rectangular windows usually have insulating shades and other energy-saving measures made for them. This isn’t the case for specialty windows. These windows can come in many different shapes and sizes so they’re hard to insulate. To deal with this problem, you can try cutting polycarbonate panels to fit the specialty window openings. However, these panels can distort the view.
You can also try using a clear plastic insulating film. In addition to these measures, you can also caulk the gaps around the specialty window frames and replace any worn weatherstripping you might find. Caulking and sealing gaps is a temporary fix, however. If your specialty window already has cracks and gaps, then it’s probably better to replace them. Fortunately, we install vinyl replacement windows in all kinds, shapes and sizes.
How We Can Help You
If you install our replacement windows, you will no longer have to worry about energy loss during winter. You won’t have to cut out panels for your specialty windows, and you won’t have to buy any film. There also won’t be any cracks and gaps for air to escape. Our specialty windows feature low-emissivity (low-E) glass coatings that reflect heat, trapping this heat inside your home. They are incredibly energy-efficient.
